Quando aprendemos uma nova língua, é comum termos mais facilidade em desenvolver uma habilidade (ler, falar, ouvir ou escrever) do que outras. Muitos estudantes de línguas encontram dificuldade nas habilidades de produção, como a fala e a escrita. A série de cursos Improve Yourself Light é voltada para os níveis A1 e A2 do CEFR, oferecendo diversas oportunidades para aprimorar habilidades específicas em inglês. Estudantes nos níveis A1 e A2 são capazes de entender e usar expressões cotidianas e frases simples voltadas para necessidades concretas. Conseguem se apresentar e fazer perguntas básicas sobre informações pessoais, como onde moram, pessoas que conhecem e coisas que possuem, além de se comunicarem de maneira simples, desde que o interlocutor fale devagar e com clareza.
